Gozo Radio Interviews - Dr Peter J Shield

Our first radio interview with the eminent and utterly incredible Dr Peter J Shield, who has actually lived and worked in 25 countries, but currently resides close to beautiful Ramla Bay on Gozo. Internationally acclaimed archaeologist, photographer, author, broadcaster, lecturer & travel consultant, Dr Shield first came to Malta / Gozo in the 1950s as a photojournalist for Associated Press; before being recruited by the then Maltese Government Department of Information from 1955 – 1960, and being assigned to the incredible task of recording all the treasures left by the Knights of St John / Malta and displayed in the museums and Churches on the Islands. In this interview, Alisdair Williams talks with the good Dr a little about some of the incredible things that he has done throughout his life, but mainly focus on the unique and amazing history of Gozo; specifically, the Ggantija temple complex, and the Il-Hagar museum.
